Forging is a process in which a lump of raw material called a slug is compressed into a desired shape using tooling in a press. Forging produces extremely strong parts as the grain structure of the metal flows with the shape of the geometry.
Downsides of forging are that it is not as accurate as CNC Machining, therefore some aspects of the part still require machining such as the threads for the screws, and the faces which require high tolerance such as the bar interface or steerer bore.
Forging is generally much quicker than CNC Machining and can produce much less waste if near net forging is used, in whereby the slug is cast to closely resemble the final shape of the part.
Generally our forged parts are less expensive than our CNC Machined parts.
Great Stem! I have a 31mm still in action but needed something longer. Same great quality and I expect to have this one bounce from dj to dj as well. Beautiful
Chromag makes some killer kit. This is no different.
Loved the color and the look that fit perfect with my bike, orders the wrong size and they made it easy to return and ship out the right size one for me
I like this stem. It's pretty solid, but comparable in weight to other stems I have used. I haven't noticed anything problematic, or really anything at all, while riding, but I guess that's a good thing. As with most bike parts, not noticing it is probably the highest praise. Probably my only complaint is that it is painted and not anodized, but that's simply aesthetic preference. At the end of the day it's a stem and it does that job well.
I've run a few hifi stems now and they have all been awesome. I currently have one on my dj bike and it looks great while doing its job. There are cheaper stems out there but these looks so tidy and why not spend some money on a quality part that can move bikes as needed.
The stem is very robust, it looks awesome, feels awesome, and it’s great to know it won’t snap when I apply lots of force.
Overall, 10/10 best stem out there bang for buck.
This stem coupled with the Fubar OSX has been on basically every single one of my bike builds.
Never slips, looks good. What's not to like?
